Hallo Zusammen,
für meinen C303 suche ich eine Kugelkopfanhängerkupplung, damit ich auch mal den Wohnwagen mitnehmen kann. Im Internet und im Forum hab ich jetzt mal alles durchforstet, bin aber nicht so richtig fündig geworden. Am liebsten wäre mir ein Westfalia Wechselsystem. Das hab ich aber mit dem Lochkreis 120x55 nicht gefunden. Dazu kommt noch die Problematik mit der Höhe der AHK. Die Lösung von Snoop sieht auch nicht schlecht aus. Hat mir jemand Bezugsadressen oder Teilenummern oder Bezeichnungen für eine abnehmbare AHK die auch die richtige Höhe (also schön weit unten) hat? Danke Grüße Uli | ||||

if you scroll down to post number 7 on the Difflock.com address below one can see how Richard Dover solved his problem for towing a caravan with his C304 TGB13. http://forum.difflock.com/viewtopic.php?t=27856 basically he has welded a couple of tabs to the vehicle frame to bolt the lower support arms. The ball hitch its self mounted on a plate. The upper end of the plate is put through the pintle hitch and the lower bolted to the easily removable support struts/ties. He tells me every thing can be rigged/ unrigged very quickly. Also their is very little modification to the vehicle needed. I have seen this arrangement before on a 101 and it is most effective. | ||||

No matter, if he uses something welded to the frame - no problem because of 4mm steel - or if he uses the bolts of the spring packages: In case of a crash the impulse of the trailer will bend the little stabilizers on the left and on the right to trash and the main member in the middle wil swing upwards into the fuel tank. I am not conviced...
There is much to much free way from the lower end to the mounting point on the frame for such little steel members. There must be at least a second connection parallel to the rear bumper between the left and right member, as near to the tank as possible. horrified michael | ||||

I think that in essence the idea is OK but that the execution from an engineering stand point of view is not good, it is poor. The lower struts/ Ties are not strong enough to sustain compressive loads as a strut, but would be OK in tension as a tie. The strut/tie would also as you say need to lie more parallel to the lines of main applied force, here they are far too acutely angled and would allow the mounting to rotate about the NATO type hook and as you say force into the Tank, Their are also far to many sharp bends incorporated into the strut/ties also.
If I were to go down this line and adopt a similar basic design, the struts/ties would be attached much further forward, I think possibly they would be bolted to a welded on plate but I have not given it any thought, certainly they would be far stronger constructed. The 101 that I saw with a similar device, was a much better example but I only have the idea in my head and not on celluloid unfortunately. That used an adjustable mounting plate for the tow hook so that it could have its height lowered or raised. It was not a Dixon Bate type, but removed from an old ex army lorry of type passably of post WWII vintage but I cannot recall what. It certainly was designed for heavier loads than the 101 was capable of hauling but it was a professional job with strong beefy strut/ties going well forward and all secured by very strong removable pins. The 101 of course does not have a fuel tank in this place but instead it is mounted along the side between the wheels. | ||||

The sharp angles are not a big problem, in forward/rearward direction....it only takes 1-2 more cross-members, below the fuel tank, to make it a very rigid shape. (and if you keep the pieces straight, you could also use angled stee (L-shape), to make it more stable against buckling (it is tempting to use round or square tube, but might add too much weight)) Side-to-side is more difficult, but not more difficult than in any other configuration, *without* at least some half-size cross-member, from the low hitchmount to the corners of the bumper (these bumper tips would not be any good for forward/rearward forces, but still very good to absorb side-to-side forces.. Btw, if height is not a problem, there is an even nicer homebuild construction possible: http://www.d-90.com/faq/Towrec/TrTowing.html (Anthony might like the fact that it was once crafted by REME....;)) Btw2: while searching frequently for coupling varieties, both vehicle- and trailer-side, I recently came across these official Brink products, including adapter plates from the Volvo/Sweden specific boltpattern 120x55mm towards 83x56mm and 0x90mm....not sure if either of those two would fit the military hitch without some redrilling (to make room for the 83x56 or 0x90mm bolts on the rear), nor whether such Brink products contain any EU-approval: http://www.brink.se/attachment.php?id=148 Btw, adapters the other way around exist in a larger variety, connecting a trailer with eye to a vehicle with ball hitch; either a ball-side/vehicle-mounted adapter, or eye-side/trailer-mounted....yet still not sure whether any of these also match the 76mm NATO eye, since all were originally made for the Swiss market, which uses 35/40/45mm eyes. Btw2: note that for a higher tow rating than the military 1500/2000kg (4x4/6x6), you need the civil secondary cross member, below the regular bumper mount (plus the matching approval-documents of course). Still working on that project; generally 2500kg is possible for 4x4, and 3500kg for 6x6. | ||||

bin grad nochmal über Deine AHK gestolpert. Ich hab ja die originale Kugelkopfkupplung, die ist aber mit einer Höhe von ca. 60cm nicht für alle Hänger/Wohnwagen geeignet. Hast Du Standartteile verwendet, oder ist das zum Großteil ein Eigenbau ? Nähere Infos wären hilfreich. Danke Grüße Uli | ||||

Ich habe mal den ursprünglichen Fahrzeugimpoteur Herbst 2017 angerufen und nach Nachfertigung bzw. Unterlagen gefragt, allerdings hat der Chef wohl genügend Aufträge und wohl auch keine Konstruktionspläne mehr.
Die Option wäre, das Teil mal zu vermessen und die Lastberechnung nachzuziehen, dann bekommt man das vielleicht in Kleinserie. Die 10er oder 12er Bohrungen sind so nicht kritisch - quer in den Träger ist da schon signifikanter ... | ||||

Ja, mittig von der Seite in den Träger wäre da bei Weitem besser. Ich habe die orginale Kugelkopfkupplung dran, aber ich fürchte, dass selbst eine Erhöhung der Anhängerkupplung am Anhänger nicht den gewünschten Effekt hat.

Alle Teile bis auf den Kugelkopf und natürlich Schrauben sind selbst gefertigt. Für mein Baumuster habe ich bereits Tüv-Absprache und eine Festigkeitsberechnung ist in Arbeit. Die Rahmenaufnahmen für die Längsstreben werden geändert, sodas nicht mehr durch den Rahmen gebohrt werden muß. Vielleicht gibt's mal was. Servus. Timo | ||||
