Thema: Zündverteiler B30E für B30A geeignet? (Gelesen 3279 mal)
| ||||
Hallo, ich könnte an nen Zündverteiler für nen B30E rankommen. Weiß wer, ob der für unseren B30A passt? Müsste ja eigentlich, oder?
Danke! | ||||

Merry Christmas. The issue with the 164E distributor for B30 A is the vaccum advance. it works in reverse to retard ignition timing instead to advance it. Why??? this was solution to help B30E reduce emmisions on engine idle and was not used on later Volvo engines.

Uhhh... OM606 sounds very good. I like the B30E in my Volvo, but in the moment her desided to take al little bit oil, at least 1Liter /100km; we´ll see! I hope only piston-rings. maybe you´ll like to spend a little story with some fotos from your projekt? Best regards downunder!

| ||||
Na, das lässt doch aber hoffen! Hoffentlich kommt der gute wieder auf die Beine!

You mean 123 Ignition? https://www.123ignition.de/ Thats a complete drop in for the whole distributor. In and of itself a nice thing, bit not waterproof, which keeps me from buying it. The Pertronix https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0247/6913/4628/files/PerTronix_Catalog_12-18-20.pdf is replaces the distributor plate, so then there's no more mechanic parts anymore. It's epoxy molded and waterproof but not programmable. I think the Laubtec works the same as the Pertronix? I still have the original setup (I revised it) but tend to the pertronix next year.

If you have good oil pressure maybe you can just replace piston rings. Good idea to check if your 164E has fibre camshaft gear and replace with steel gear set or just large fibre gear. The fibre ones get brittle with age and rip teeth off or fly apart leaving a mess in the sump. I had catastrophic failure on highway when camshaft teeth ripped off under high revs 4500-5000 (in hurry to get home)

Johnny, has your OM606-research thusfar also revealed whether any upgrade over the stock 177hp (turbo, otherwise 136hp) can focus more on (low(est)-end) torque than on power? (seems its high (factory) rpm-limit already means a focus on power, more than torque) Probably requires a different turbo setup (larger wheel, lower high-end efficiency), but the real low-end performance reveals itself way below the turbo-kick-in point, or better (the real icing on the cake) even below idle-rpm....:)) (I should note I have been spoiled by TLC diesels, happily chugging along at half idle-rpm, before even making an attempt at stalling) (I should also note that a diesel-extractor adds even more wonder to this behaviour) (but it goes a bit contrary to a turbo (which favours higher end efficiency)) (an a non-turbo, it kicks bottom end torque up by a higher amount than the AC takes, for comparison) (also not sure what the ideal layout of both extractor plus modified turbo should be) (never read anything about the combination anyway, not even in closely related engine-families (like 1HD-T vs 1HZ, or 2H vs 12H-T)) (which also applies to OM606 non-turbo vs turbo, of course) (with the exception of direct injection on the Toyota turbo's) (but dealer-installed turbo-kits also existed for 1HZ) Just wondering if one could create a true tractor from that OM606....:)) (not primarily for C3-series myself, more to convert older/tax-free oldtimer G-Wagon's) (sadly the combination with a manual transmission is not easy (either maxing out on the 6sp(?) from the ML270 (163hp) or BMW units) (while my max low-end torque contemplations only make sense with a manual transmission anyway, of course....;))
