Hello Everybody. Friday was a special day. It was a day when I got my Licence plates to drive my TGB13 on the road. The registration paltes are TGB'131. After 2 trips to the Inspection branch, One engineering certificate for compliance to Australian standards and 4 trips to the licencing branch -due to government servants not knowing how to deal with an imported new registration. Also I had to exchange owership of truck from my company because I paid for it in 2008 from company funds, I had to transfer ownership to me privately. Basicically the government just want tax and more tax. Anyway it is done. First trip to Beach and then inspection of seals on all rotating parts.

Congratulation.
Do you need magnetic-tyres in Australia?

Ralf Hugo are you suggesting we need magnetic tyres "Downunder" to stop falling off the earth?

I think, he do so. But perhaps it is a point of view who is Downunder, perhaps we are downunder, but haven't recognized it. If someone is out if the athmosphere, there is no up and down, so it can be, that You Johnny are right hand side and we are left hand side or the other way, You are left and we are right, and the aquator-people are downunder and upsite every 24hours like a rollercoaster. Perhaps exactly this is the reason why the earth is magnetic and stops all falling off the earth. BR Jens

Congratulations!
...just curious, how much taxes do you need to pay for your Volvo? Was it the tax for the import or the annual taxes? Here in Sweden it is officially a "veteran car" and tax free. The only "taxes" you pay is a administration fee of 68 SEK (about 10 USD). Moranisse

And here in Germany we pay 192 € evry year for veteran cars grmmmmll

Hi Moranisse, Here is my fairytale Hansel and Gretal style. The payment was for the annual road use licence document called "Motor Vehicle and Third party Insurance Policy" The third party is compulsary insurance to protect the other driver from medical expenses if he or she hits my vehicle and gets injured But before I could get Motor Vehicle Licence, I had to pay USD22 to allow me to drive to Inspection centre in next suburb to get a vehicle inspection which cost AUD86 . I failed the first inspection because the examiner could not find Chassis vin number, I had retrofitted HID headlights instead of old tungsten globes and the inspector told me to remove them because they did not have self levelling device and also had to have headlight washers (this is another story) and also the exhaust cannot be pointing to side where the outlet is going to fumigate pedestrians--I must have exhaust exit from rear of vehicle. He failed the inspection so I had to fit old halogen globes and rewire to original. I then had to pay another AUD 22 dollars to drive to inspection and AUD86 for another inspection because the first Inspection correction had expired after 1month. In the meantime I ordered Custom Licence plates Blue TGB.131 cost AUD124 which took a month to make. The Motor vehicle Registration is in another suburb and they notified me when licence plates were available. Well they would not release number plates as they said I needed my import papers. so I drive back home and pick them Up. When I get back to MVR, I get another counter woman and she tells me no I must have inspection Pass paper -hence second inspection done. I drive back to MVR and yes I can have my licence plates as I have all my import papers as well --But wait -- the document says the original purchase from Active life Sweden was paid for by my company and not by me privately so I have to transfer ownership to me and sign declaration that indeed I do own the vehicle and pay tax to do so. Cost AUD Licence Fee 373.40 Insurance 214.05 GST on Insurance 21.40 Stamp duty on insurance 23.50 Recording(paperwork fee) 13.05 Stamp duty 217.25 Total 862.65 *Next year I will only need to pay AUD~ 500 for 12 months licence. I keep thinking Australia is the most taxed nation on earth --unless I am wrong.

Hi Johnny,
it is not that expensive in Australia In Germany it is 192,--EURO/Year Tax, 350,--EURO/Year Insurance and every two years its 100,--EURO for TÜV (Technical Control) So it is nearly the same cost than in Australia. Fuel ist about 1,50 EURO/liter (2,20 AUD) Grüße Uli
|
||||
| ||||
All these cost and then he has to buy magnetic wheels, too......
