moin,

Chris,
I have had numerous conversations concerning the NATO Hitch on various Web Sites. I have had a NATO Hitch on many of my off road vehicles and there are more than a few poeple in GB with them attached to various Landrovers. In my view the NATO Hitch should be the only one that is ever used because it is so safe and also strong. They can be set up to allow full articulation if the ring of the trailer is stationary though many trailer rings swivel in any case. This would allow the towing vehicle Landrover of what ever to remain safe even if the trailer capsized. The Dixon Bate NATO Hitch, there are several different sizes, is TUV Certified. I would have thought that this should be enough to satisfy the authorities in Germany. However a friend on Robi's Pinzgauer whom I was in conversation with in a thread, led me to believe that this might not be the case as the German Authorities are not that strait forward or simple and that one can not assume anything sensible. http://www.dixonbate.co.uk/Towing/pintles.asp This one is the most suitable I think, http://www.dixonbate.co.uk/towing/product.asp?PartNo=FV987958

thats exactly it. we have one- everyone uses it, but: the tüv doesnt want to put it in the papers. i'd rather use the original one than switching to another vendor. it was just that someone managed it to get it in the papers...i'll try in mannheim, sooner or later
