Hello to all!
It is always such a treat to see members of the worldwide Volvo TGB community having such a great time together. Without a doubt, owners in Germany/northern Europe have more frequent and very well attended gathering than any other place I know. Well done! We have had Volvos at our annual Northwest MogFest since 2003 and have had more than a dozen some years. We shall see what August 2023 brings. I must wish Nicky and Carsten belated Happy Birthday wishes. It is always great to celebrate with friends. One of the additional benefits of this forum is seeing photos of what others have done to make their trucks fit their needs best. I have been a member of the Military Vehicle Preservation Association since 1980. They ultimately focus on keeping vehicles in original military condition. Vehicles kept that way tend to not be used much and decay from just sitting inactive for years. Over ten years ago, I was named the official Steyr-Puch Haflinger technical advisor for the MVPA. Two years ago, they named me their technical advisor for the Volvo TGB trucks as well. I must admit that I am not the best role model for the "purist military vehicle collector". I believe more in the "Use them or lose them." concept. Since 2003, we have owned six Volvo TGB trucks and I have have kept NONE of them in original stock condition. My latest truck is a very low mileage 1975 TGB1314A that is in continuous modification/upgrade/improvement mode. In case you are unaware, there is is now a "TGB Campers" Facebook page that also includes the Scania TGB30/40 trucks. Within the next two months, I hope to post a large number of photos showing what I nave done thus far. I encourage others to doe the same if you choose. Carsten, if I am correct, your truck is the light green TGB131X with black roof and silver wheels. It also has a spare tire mounted on the rear. If I am wrong, please disregard. If I am correct, can you share some photos of you accomplished this as I do want to move away from the cab roof mounted spare tire. Nicky & Küppi, I enjoy seeing your iconic "back door open sipping coffee" images time after time. I am curious as to how you have outfitted the inside of the rear box and the snorkel air intake. I must head out to the barnyard now for a bit of Volvo truck time. Here is a link to one of my favorite NWMF videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5Q1IcfyJ7k Our theme for this year's event is "MOGtoberFest". Take care...one and all!
