Hab untenstehende Bericht gerade auf English verfasst & gepostet....aber vielleicht gibt es hier bessere Hella-Experten die schon einiges an deren Volvo ausgetestet haben?

Ich weiss dass es fuer die J7 Land Cruiser Scheinwerfer leicht modifizierte (Hella?) FF (Freie Flaechen) Modelle gibt, weiss nur nicht mehr wie gross die waren, und wieviel Auswahl Hella ueberhaupt bietet.
Der Volvo Scheinwerfer hat angeblich 7" Duerchmesser, als quasi Typenbezeichnung.

After taking lots of notes, I thought it wise to share with the
list....;))

Rear glass covers, direct order numbers (unlike the rest further
down):

Tail/brake/indicator, 14cm diameter (lots of data on the cover, for
each function, but Hella didn't need all that, 'round/14cm' was
enough to spit out their order number):
Hella 9EL 113 324 001

Reverse/Backup:
Hella 9ES 106 588 001


License plate lights (on a C306 firefighter above the tail door, left
and right):
FlexLamps
Essex-Eng
Model No. 40
RubboLite


Firefighter-typical searchlight on the rear, left to the door:
Hella 301-120-377

(there are two more searchlights mounted to the side of my roofrack,
but I am pretty sure those were mounted later, yet they also seem to
have a military green color under the current black:
Hella 301-121-629


Headlights turn out to be rather problematic, at least in what seems
the OEM versions....and since my C306 has two different brands left
and right, I guess it still makes sense to list the data written on
the glass....my guess is that both were OEM, in certain years:
(Bosch/Volvo being the first generation, Hella the second?)

Bosch/Volvo:
H4

Both the Hella and Bosch distributor came back to me with 'blocked'
or 'not available'.

So, can anyone confirm both are indeed blocked, even in Sweden?
And, which alternative replacements might exist, old stock or new
models, either glass+reflector, or complete units with metal rings?
(I assume the outside metal rings are either Volvo or C3-series
specific, but who knows....)

On the completely overhauled red TGB11 at http://www.real4x4.com,
they mention a modern type of headlight....just not sure if that
would be a directional Euro-style light-pattern, instead of the non-
directional US-style.
Anyone done some research on a headlight replacement?
(and what do the C3-owners in the UK use, when they change the light-
pattern from right to left? (other than putting black tape on the
lens))

Ideally there would still be a size-matching modern Hella unit, with
their famous FF-technology (no light diverging/converging by the
glass, only by the reflector).
One step above that would be a matching HID/Xenon unit, but I'd
rather spend that kind of money on an additional set of lights, in a
less vulnerable position than the stock headlights.


Oh btw, I have seen C306 firefighters with a different type of rear
lights, more oval, not circular (both types are extremely common,
used at millions of trucks and trailers).
(more odd: I have seen one C306 firefighter that had the
taillight/brake/indicator light-cover not aligned horizontally, but
vertically....not sure when this was done, right at the factory or
later, research still pending....:))

Hmm....further observation of both brands of headlights on my C306
(1980) reveals a rather interesting difference: the Bosch/Volvo unit
sticks out about 1cm from under the metal ring, while the Hella unit
is nearly flush.
Interesting, because my headlight-wiper on the Bosch/Volvo unit isn't
working properly, it gets stuck in the upper position, after wiping
the glass....
(I first suspected it to make a larger angle of movement than the
other side, but now I might have found the real cause....)
So, now the question becomes even more relevant: which is the
older/original unit, Bosch/Volvo or Hella?
With this wiper-problem in mind, I now have the contrary suspicion as
before: Bosch/Volvo = new, Hella = old....
Which would then also nicely explain why the headlight-wipers
vanished on later models....the headlights simply didn't match....:))

Additional notes:

7" Hella replacement unit, a 35,35 euro:
1A6 002 395 031
(a drawing can be found on http://www.hella.nl when entering the
partnumber 1A3 001-120-001)

Beyond this, the Hella distributor could not find a 7" replacement
unit among their FF-series, but they told me that I should look at
either VW Golf/Rabbit (series-1), or better at Mercedes G-series,
latest generation (2005).
(which would also be the most likely candidate to have a complete
Xenon installation, for those interested....anyone know for sure?
(probably optional))


Also, the codes I gave for the additional backup/working lights are
only production codes, not relevant part numbers in any way....to
find the part number, I must open the lamp, and see what is written
on the reflector (too lazy for that right now....;))

Du suchst also gar nicht die normalen H4-Einsätze, sondern die FF-Scheinwerfer mit Klarglasoptik? Mit den 7" hast Du Recht. Das ist der Standard, u.a. für Unimog, Landi,  Ford Transit u.v.m.

Ich suche uebrigens nicht unbedingt eine neue Optik, aber ich will wenigstens wissen was es momentan zu waehlen gibt, besonders in welche Preisklasse....:))
(und dazu die Tatsache dass es auch noch relevant scheint fuer die Lampen-Wischer-Funktion)


Uebrigens, auch hoch-interessantes in sachen Visco-Luefter auf diese Seiten!:
